What the notary does when you purchase a property, which deeds are involved, and how to prepare.
When you buy a home, the notary handles the legal transfer. They review the purchase agreement, land registry details, and any mortgage.
Transfer of ownership
On the transfer date you sign the deed of transfer. Ownership is registered with the Dutch Land Registry (Kadaster).
Mortgage deed
If you take out a mortgage, the notary also executes the mortgage deed in favour of the lender.
